Notes on chain complexes

These notes are intended as a very basic introduction to (co)chain complexes and their algebra,the intention being to point the beginner at some of the main ideas which should be furtherstudied by in depth reading. Mostintroductory books on algebraic topology introduce the language and basic ideas of homologicalalgebra.
